It involves digitizing paper documents in order to store, index and organizing them into a system that aligns with the goals of the company&#8217;s strategic plan. This process allows teams find the correct information at the right time, and ensures that critical business processes aren&#8217;t delayed by delays that are hidden.\n<\/p>\n<p>Without a central digital document management system it can take a long time to locate the information needed to complete a specific task. This can be particularly challenging for remote workers who need to access multiple locations&#8217; documents when they need to complete an assignment. This issue can be drastically reduced with a digital document management system that has search capabilities and custom classification metadata and the content of documents.\n<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an EDMS should allow employees to scan and upload documents into the system from their desktop. This will save the business a lot of space and speed up the process. Once the documents are transferred to a central repository, they can be searched and retrieved as needed. If a document is updated the software must provide full version control to ensure that only the most current versions are distributed and available for use.
